You already have the ability to be amazing!

What if you could be truly amazing?

Imagine that your mind is an elite athlete, training to win a race at the very pinnacle of your sport. This picture is easier to paint than you might think. Because while not everyone has an athlete’s physical prowess, we are all in possession of an immensely powerful super-computer. Our minds are incredible, and anybody could learn how to use theirs in a life-transforming way – if they were shown how…

Think about it for a moment. Between your heart and your brain there exists the ability to manage tens of thousands of conscious thoughts each day, conjure up unlimited imaginations, make decisions, believe, love, and be the person you decide to be. Whatever else is going on in the world, you get to choose how your mind treats you. Sadly, although we all have this amazing piece of cognitive equipment, most people don’t really know how to use their minds as elite athletes use their bodies.

The elite are only elite because of coaching!

As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, one of my extra-curricular diversions is Tae Kwon Do. Over the years, I have progressed through its various stages and am proud of my current black-belt status. But the fact of the matter is, I could never have reached that level alone. I needed coaching to show me the techniques and the training that were necessary. I also needed the encouragement to keep going and the reassurance that I was continually heading in the right direction. No one ever became really good at anything without coaching!

Coaching is about identifying the abilities that a person already has and teaching them how to use these techniques more effectively. In the course of doing this, you will automatically become more skilful in the use of those abilities: but uncovering your gifts and teaching you to start using what nature gave you is where the magic starts. The good news is that everybody – and I mean every single person – can be coached to be better than they are today.

Think of it like having a personal trainer for your head. Someone who, with time, patience and persistence will help you become an elite thinker, positive doer and higher achiever than you believed possible.

Discovering and using your toolbox…

Let’s leave the athlete analogy behind for a moment (we don’t want to wear ourselves out) and look at some of the tools that a coach might help you discover within yourself. You know how teenagers might pick up your laptop, tablet or smartphone and within five minutes be showing you features that you didn’t even know were on there. Well, your mind is just like that: full of amazingly powerful features you can tap into – if shown how!

One of the techniques I teach my customers is ‘mindfulness’ the art of being in the moment, focusing your mind and unlocking the full power of your thoughts. This is like opening the door to your mind toolbox and discovering the potential hidden inside. You will be amazed at what a little bit of well-coached mindfulness can do for you.

Another key step to coaching your mind towards its elite best is setting some goals. I know that sounds like a cliché, but it is so important. Together we can overcome your fear of having a goal and discover a goal which is at the centre of your heart’s desire. That way, what you want to achieve becomes the key to your motivation to do everything else. That is where the theory, suddenly becomes a reality and you can start to win the big races.
